Requirements by Operation Type

Private general aviation flights require overflight and landing permits.

All non-scheduled foreign flights require prior clearance. Minimum 24 hours lead time.

Scheduled services governed by bilateral agreements.

Overflight Permit

  • Required: Yes
  • Authority: NCAA - Air Transport Department
  • Lead Time: 24-48 working hours before departure
  • Validity: 72 hours from initial scheduled time of FIR entry
  • Fees: Navigation charges apply; no specific CAA processing fee reported
Remarks:

Unique clearance number issued must be in Item 18 of flight plan. Permit expires automatically if flight delayed beyond 72 hours.

Application Process:

Submit request for overflight clearance to NCAA not less than 24 hours prior with flight schedule, entry/exit points, and aircraft documentation (COR, COA).

Landing Permit

  • Required: Yes
  • Authority: NCAA - Air Transport Department
  • Lead Time: 48 working hours before departure
  • Validity: 72 hours from initial requested schedule
  • Fees: Specific landing fees apply; confirm with NCAA during application
Remarks:

Landing permit is distinct from overflight permit. May involve specific fees to be confirmed with NCAA.

Submit application to NCAA with complete flight schedule and relevant details for landing clearance.

Cabotage

Prohibited for foreign operators
