Radial

Radial is a magnetic bearing extending outward from a VOR station. There are 360 radials, each identified by its magnetic direction from the station (e.g., the 090 radial extends east from the VOR). Airways are often defined along specific radials.

Pilots use radials for navigation by tracking inbound (toward the VOR on a specific radial) or outbound (away from the VOR). The course to fly is the reciprocal of the radial when tracking inbound.
