Precision Approach

Precision Approach is an instrument approach procedure that provides both lateral (horizontal) and vertical (glide path) guidance to the runway. This allows lower decision heights and visibility minimums compared to non-precision approaches.

Types of precision approaches:

• ILS: Instrument Landing System (most common)
• GLS: GBAS Landing System (satellite-based)
• PAR: Precision Approach Radar (military, controller-directed)
