LPV

LPV (Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance) is a type of RNAV approach that provides both lateral and vertical guidance using SBAS (Satellite-Based Augmentation System, such as WAAS in the US). LPV approaches can achieve decision altitudes as low as 200 ft, comparable to a CAT I ILS.

LPV does not require ground-based navigation equipment at the airport, making it a cost-effective alternative to ILS installation. It requires SBAS-capable GPS equipment in the aircraft.
