Logbook
Logbook refers to two types of records in aviation:
- Pilot logbook: Personal record of all flights, including date, aircraft type, route, flight time, and type of operation. Required for proving flight experience for certificates and ratings.
- Aircraft logbook (technical log): Official record of all flights, maintenance actions, inspections, modifications, and defects for each airframe, engine, and propeller. Required by regulation and essential for maintaining airworthiness certification.
Electronic logbooks are increasingly common for both pilot and aircraft records, with regulatory acceptance growing worldwide.
