ICAO Phonetic Alphabet
ICAO Phonetic Alphabet (also called the NATO phonetic alphabet) is the internationally standardized set of 26 words used to clearly communicate individual letters over radio transmissions. Each word was chosen because it is easily distinguishable from others, even in noisy conditions or across language barriers.
- A-Alpha, B-Bravo, C-Charlie, D-Delta, E-Echo, F-Foxtrot, G-Golf, H-Hotel, I-India, J-Juliet, K-Kilo, L-Lima, M-Mike
- N-November, O-Oscar, P-Papa, Q-Quebec, R-Romeo, S-Sierra, T-Tango, U-Uniform, V-Victor, W-Whiskey, X-X-ray, Y-Yankee, Z-Zulu
- Numbers are pronounced distinctly: 0-Zero, 1-One, 2-Two, 3-Tree, 4-Fow-er, 5-Fife, 6-Six, 7-Seven, 8-Eight, 9-Niner
- Used for callsigns, waypoints, runway designators, and any letter/number communication
