General Aviation
General Aviation (GA) encompasses all civil aviation operations that are not scheduled commercial air service or paid cargo operations. It ranges from private recreational flying to corporate jets, flight training, agricultural aviation, and aerial surveying.
- Represents over 80% of all flights in the United States
- Aircraft range from single-engine Cessnas to large business jets (Gulfstream, Bombardier)
- Regulated under Part 91 (US) or Annex 6 Part II (ICAO)
- FBOs (Fixed-Base Operators) provide GA services: fuel, parking, handling, hangars
- GA airports are critical infrastructure — many communities rely on them for air access
- Flight training is the largest single category of GA operations
