Fuselage
Fuselage is the main body structure of an aircraft that houses the flight crew, passengers, cargo, and many aircraft systems. The fuselage connects the wing, empennage (tail), and landing gear, and must withstand flight loads, cabin pressurization, and ground handling forces.
Fuselage construction types:
- Monocoque: Loads carried by the skin (rare in modern aircraft)
- Semi-monocoque: Skin, stringers, frames, and bulkheads share loads (most common)
- Composite: Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (B787, A350)
