En-Route Chart

An En-Route Chart (also called an En-Route IFR Chart or High/Low Altitude Chart) depicts the airway structure, navigation aids, waypoints, reporting points, and associated information used for the cruise phase of IFR flight.

  • Low Altitude Charts: Cover airways from surface to FL180/FL245 (Victor Airways in the US)
  • High Altitude Charts: Cover airways above FL180/FL245 (Jet Routes in the US)
  • Show MEA (Minimum En-Route Altitude), MOCA, and MAA for each airway segment
  • Depict communication frequencies, FIR boundaries, and restricted airspace
  • Updated on AIRAC cycles (every 28 days)
  • Digital versions in FMS databases replace paper charts in modern operations
