Displaced Threshold

Displaced Threshold is a runway threshold that is located at a point other than the physical beginning of the runway. The displaced area before the threshold is available for takeoff, landing rollout, and taxiing, but not for landing.

Thresholds are displaced for various reasons: obstacle clearance on approach, noise abatement, or pavement strength limitations. The displaced area is marked with white arrows pointing toward the threshold, and the threshold itself is marked with the standard threshold markings.
