Class D Airspace

Class D Airspace surrounds airports with an operational control tower that do not meet the requirements for Class B or C. Both IFR and VFR flights are permitted but must establish two-way radio communication with the tower before entering.

Class D typically extends from the surface to 2,500 ft AGL with a radius of about 4-5 nm. VFR aircraft receive traffic information but are responsible for their own separation from other VFR traffic.
