Class B Airspace
Class B Airspace surrounds the busiest airports (e.g., JFK, LAX, Heathrow). Both IFR and VFR flights are permitted but require ATC clearance. ATC provides separation between all aircraft.
Class B typically has an inverted wedding cake shape, with layers extending outward at higher altitudes. Aircraft must have a transponder with Mode C altitude reporting, two-way radio, and (in the US) a specific ATC clearance to enter.
