Center of Gravity

CG (Center of Gravity) is the point at which the total weight of the aircraft is considered to act. The CG position relative to the wing mean aerodynamic chord is critical for aircraft stability and control.

  • Forward CG: More stable but requires more elevator force, higher approach speeds, increased fuel consumption
  • Aft CG: Less stable, more responsive controls, lower fuel consumption, but closer to stall/loss of control boundary

CG must remain within approved limits throughout all phases of flight. Weight and balance calculations before each flight ensure CG is within range for takeoff, cruise, and landing.
