ASDE-X

ASDE-X (Airport Surface Detection Equipment, Model X) is a runway safety system that provides tower controllers with a detailed map of aircraft and ground vehicles on the airport surface. It combines surface movement radar, ADS-B, and multilateration data.

ASDE-X generates alerts when it detects potential runway incursions or conflicts on taxiways. It is installed at over 30 major airports in the United States and significantly enhances ground safety, especially in low-visibility conditions.
