Aerodrome is the ICAO term for any defined area of land or water intended for the arrival, departure, and surface movement of aircraft. The term encompasses airports, airfields, heliports, and seaplane bases regardless of size or whether they have paved runways.

ICAO uses "aerodrome" as the standard international term. The word "airport" typically implies a larger facility with passenger terminals and commercial services, while "aerodrome" is the broader technical term used in regulations and documentation.
