Kempegowda Intl
A Journey Through Time
2008 — 2024
Kempegowda International Airport opened on 24 May 2008, replacing HAL Airport and becoming India's first greenfield airport since independence. It was named after the 16th-century founder of Bangalore.
Terminal 2, designed by SOM inspired by the gardens of Bangalore, opened in 2022. Its bamboo lattice ceiling and departure garden with over 10,000 plants redefine the terminal experience.
Bangalore Airport became the third-busiest in India, serving as the primary gateway for India's technology hub and handling 37 million passengers annually.
