Juhu Aerodrome opened in 1932 as India's first civil airport, with Tata Air Services (precursor to Air India) launching operations. Commercial flights later shifted to Santacruz Airport.
Terminal 2 (T2) opened in February 2014, designed by SOM with a stunning Jaya He GVK New Museum featuring 7,000 artworks spanning 5,000 years of Indian art and culture.
Mumbai Airport became the busiest single-runway airport in the world, handling over 950 movements per day — a feat of air traffic management that pushed the runway to its absolute limit.
