Tancredo Neves
A Journey Through Time
1984 — 2016
Aeroporto Internacional de Confins opened on 18 January 1984, replacing the downtown Pampulha Airport for commercial flights. It was named Tancredo Neves International Airport.
The airport underwent a R$1.6 billion expansion ahead of the 2014 World Cup, including a new terminal designed by Brazilian architect Gustavo Penna, tripling passenger capacity.
BH Airport consortium took over operations in 2014 as part of Brazil's airport privatisation program, investing heavily in infrastructure and passenger experience improvements.
