Hamad Intl
A Journey Through Time
2014 — 2023
Hamad International Airport opened on 30 April 2014, replacing the old Doha International Airport. Built on a 2,200-hectare reclaimed island, it cost over $16 billion — one of the most expensive airports ever built.
Hamad was named the World's Best Airport by Skytrax in 2021 and 2022, becoming the first Middle Eastern airport to claim the top spot. It served as the primary hub for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Orchard expansion opened in 2023, a stunning indoor tropical garden in the central concourse featuring a 268-metre-long living plant wall and natural skylights.
