King Khaled Intl
A Journey Through Time
1983 — 2024
King Khalid International Airport opened on 14 November 1983, designed by the architectural firm HOK. Its four terminals are arranged around a central mosque accessible to all passengers.
Terminal 5 (the dedicated Royal Terminal) was expanded and a new General Aviation terminal opened, reflecting Saudi Arabia's growing private aviation sector.
Construction began on the King Salman International Airport, a massive new facility designed by Foster + Partners. It will eventually replace King Khalid with capacity for 120 million passengers.
