Miami Intl
A Journey Through Time
1928 — 2012
Pan American Airways launched its first international flight from Miami on 28 October 1927, a Key West–Havana route that marked the beginning of US international commercial aviation.
Miami International became the primary gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, a role cemented when Pan Am and Eastern Air Lines made it their hub for all routes south of the US border.
The North Terminal (renamed MIA Mover) opened alongside a new automated people mover connecting to the Miami Intermodal Center, integrating the airport with Metrorail and Tri-Rail.
