Logan Intl
A Journey Through Time
1923 — 2004
Boston Airport opened in 1923 on reclaimed land in East Boston. It was renamed General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport in 1943 after a decorated World War I general.
Terminal E (the International Terminal) was built in 1974, but Logan's most significant expansion came in 1956 when new runways extended into Boston Harbor on filled land.
The Ted Williams Tunnel and Silver Line BRT connected Logan to downtown Boston, solving decades of ground access challenges. Logan also completed a $4.6 billion modernisation program.
