Brussels National
A Journey Through Time
1958 — 2015
A new Brussels National Airport terminal was built for Expo 58 (the 1958 World's Fair), which drew 42 million visitors to Belgium and transformed the airport into a major European gateway.
Following the Sabena bankruptcy in 2001, Brussels Airport reinvented itself as a multi-hub airport, attracting Brussels Airlines, and becoming a major European cargo hub.
Connector, a new pier linking terminals A and B, opened in 2015 with a spectacular glass facade. Brussels Airport also became the primary European hub for DHL Express cargo operations.
